    The Role

    Reporting to the Assistant Controller, Construction & Development, the Accounting Manager will supervise a team of accountants and oversee the timely and accurate preparation of construction and development financial statements and job cost reports. 

     

     

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Supervise, train and mentor construction & development staff and senior accountants.
    • Effectively use Timberline and PeopleSoft to review and report C&D Accounting transactions.
    • Coordinate the monthly & mid-month timeline to ensure all assignments are completed on time.
    • Review construction and development agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment.
    • Perform quality review on construction community and overhead financial statements.
    • Review and approve construction & development budget uploads.
    • Review and update the corporate account analysis.
    • Review and approve checks less than $15,000 as needed.
    • Prepare depreciation budgets for construction communities.
    • Assist with internal and external audits as assigned.
    • Interface with IT department and external vendors on Timberline issues and updates.
    • Prepare construction and development accounting calendars.
    • Manage Timberline accounting system, including the approval of changes to reports and queries.
    • Assist in development and documentation of accounting procedures, policies and controls.
    • Evaluate and implement process improvements and efficiencies.
    • Review and approve wire and ACH payments.
    • Act as liaison to construction and development project managers, directors, accounts payable, corporate accounting and senior management on C&D Accounting matters.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    You Have...

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.  CPA designation is desired.  Ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in the following:

    • Financial statement preparation and review.
    • Ability to effectively train and supervise staff accountants.
    • Previous supervisory experience desired.
    • Real Estate background desired.
    • Possess a strong customer service focus.
    • Ability to work well with accounting team and field associates.
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
    • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet software and database accounting systems.
    • Superior time management and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated teamwork and strong work ethic.
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
    • Willing to work on a flexible schedule (some overtime required).
