    The Role

    Based in our Arlington, VA regional office, the Manager, Redevelopment & Asset Management (“Manager”) is responsible for participating in all phases of the redevelopment, remerchandising and asset management process and will report to the Senior Director of Redevelopment & Asset Management for the Mid-Atlantic region. The Manager’s responsibilities will include leading the due diligence process, design process, underwriting process, and execution process for multiple asset management and redevelopment projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.   Accordingly, the Manager will be responsible for implementing capital plans, leading team meetings to review project plans, assuring financial results are achieved, and continually providing management with updates regarding progress with various assets.

     

    • Project Management: Lead internal and external teams from due diligence through design, entitlements, internal approvals and execution for projects  involving building exteriors, amenity spaces, common areas, and/or apartment interiors.  Assist Sr. Director on various aspects of complicated redevelopment projects.
    • Analysis: The Manager will complete market and financial analysis, including advanced modeling, capital plans and repositioning of existing assets within AvalonBay’s stabilized portfolio and redevelopment pipeline. 
    • Research:  The Manager will research items as requested, including entitlement process, zoning status, and competitors. The Manager will also create approval packages/presentations for board members, investors and AVB executives.
    • Asset Management: The Manager will provide asset management oversight to newly acquired communities, work to identify resident, asset, market and/or operating issues, implement capital plans and lead asset team meetings during initial transition period. At the direction of Sr. Director, the manager will work to mitigate risk and identify opportunities within the portfolio outside of day-to-day operations.

    You Have...

    Qualified candidates will have a BA/BS and three years of relevant redevelopment, development, construction, or acquisition experience in the multi-family industry.  An MBA/MRED, or a similar graduate degree, and prior project management experience, particularly involving design and construction management, are preferred.

    • Our ideal candidate is a leader with the ability to motivate others and work with strong personalities.  He or she is a motivated, resourceful team player who can work autonomously and asks for support when needed.
    • Ability to manage work load and communicate expectations to third party consultants such as designers, architects and engineers.  Includes managing contracts and invoices.
    • Solid analytical skills including problem solving and financial analysis, including strong Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Exceptional organizational, collaboration and communication skills.
