The Role

Infrastructure group is looking for an experienced system administrator with a solid understanding of patch management in a mixed Windows/Linux/MacOS environment.  Incumbent will be expected to manage the monthly security updates for operating systems and applications in use within the company infrastructure, remediate issues related to patch levels of these applications and systems following our defined change management process, and provide regular reports for management use which demonstrate system health and compliance.  We have a dynamic infrastructure which is under constant change.  This presents regular challenges and opportunities for contribution to improvements, creativity, and technical growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patch management tasks including:
    • Maintaining knowledge of available patches and any post install steps required to meet compliance
    • Determine which patches are appropriate for which systems
    • Coordination of maintenance windows with system owners and stakeholders.
    • Testing of patches to ensure functionality
    • Packaging and deployment of the patches
    • Reporting on system compliance.
  • Be accountable for patches and feature releases across a multi-OS environment which includes both workstations and servers.
  • Improve existing procedures for managing patches across the infrastructure, including patch evaluation, severity ranking, risk analysis, prioritization, deployment, follow-up, and issue remediation
  • Document, implement and prioritize patches throughout the environment
  • Review patching progress against Nessus reports
  • Verification of security vulnerabilities and patches as well as performing deep dive and impact analysis into failed patch deployments

You Have...

  • Patch Management & Patch Automation experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Strong technical knowledge of operating systems including Windows Server and Windows 10
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group policies and PowerShell scripting
  • Linux and MacOS experience desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of hybrid environment, on-prem and cloud
  • Ability to use Azure automation and InTune in deploying patches.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with little or no assistance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
